Adopt-A-Pantry 2014 Registration
Bucks County Opportunity Council is pleased to announce Adopt-A-Pantry 2014 - our 2nd annual county-wide, collaborative food drive with help from our partners New York Life and Delaware Valley College.
Why Your Contribution Is Important
Your contribution to Adopt-A-Pantry will help keep our pantries well stocked during the summertime, which is traditionally the time the pantry shelves go bare. Families need greater help to keep their children nourished during the summer, as those children who receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch are home from school. In addition, the funding that supports Bucks County Opportunity Council's Food and Nutrition Network has been reduced by 40% in recent years, while the number of visits to our food pantries has increased. Every contribution counts, and together we can make a difference in the quality of life of these families.
Our goal is to collect at least 23,000 meals for families in our community - the equivalent of fifteen tons of food. Food or fund collection can begin at your site from now through Friday, May 23rd. Use this flyer to advertise your drive! Drop-off of donations will be from Tuesday, May 27th to Thursday, May 29th at Delaware Valley College Student Center which is located at 700 East Butler Avenue in Doylestown, PA 18901.
1. Pledge to do a food drive or collect donations for the food program during the month of May. Collect at your location, neighborhood, place of business, or ask your friends to help. Bring the donation to our food collection event on May 27, 28 or 29, where you will have your donation weighed, receive a certificate with the donation amount on it, have your picture taken to be on our “Adopt-A-Pantry Wall of Fame,” get social media recognition, and more. Learn all the how-to's by reviewing the toolkit.
2. Volunteer during the week of May 27-30- Tuesday through Friday. We need more than 40 volunteers each day, to help unload food donations, weigh the food, sort and separate the items, check-in donors, make certificates, take photos, etc. we also need help preparing for and coordinating logistics of the event. To volunteer, send an email to Eileen Albillar, Volunteer and Community Connections Manager with the subject: Adopt-A-Pantry Volunteer to email@example.com.
If you can't do a food drive or collection now, please consider making a donation today to the CAN-less Food Drive, to support ending hunger in our community. Click here to go to the CAN-less Food Drive page. Thank you for your support!
