Do you enjoy preparing taxes for friends and family members? Are you a retired tax professional with some free time on your hands? Are you a college student looking to get some real-life experience and beef up your resume?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider volunteering with Buck$Back, the free income tax preparation service provided by the Bucks County Opportunity Council in partnership with the IRS and supported by the Bucks County Foundation.
Buck$Back is a community-based Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program providing free tax return preparation for people who need tax assistance but can’t afford it. People with low-to-moderate incomes, seniors, people with disabilities and those with limited English skills usually qualify for this free service.
Since its beginning in 2004, Buck$Back volunteers have prepared more than 7,000 tax returns and generated refunds, credits and preparation fee savings totaling $12.5 million for low and moderate income working families. Each year, volunteers help hundreds of taxpayers improve their financial situation. Incredibly, the program returns more than $32 to taxpayers in our community for every $1 invested.
Volunteers are needed to be Greeters, Tax Preparers, Quality Reviewers, and Schedulers.
All tax preparation volunteers receive online and classroom training to prepare a limited scope of tax returns. To find out more about volunteering and how to complete the training process, click on the Volunteer FAQs.
