Evangeline's Story

Evangeline came to the Bucks County Opportunity Council in early January of 2016. Evangeline had used BCOC's emergency housing assistance a few times in the past when she finally decided she wanted to participate in our Economic Self-Sufficiency program.  She was tired of living paycheck to paycheck and felt something had to change.

Evangeline was enrolled at Bucks County Community College taking two on-line classes working on her AA in Administration with accounting emphasis.  She was set to graduate in Dec of 2016.  Evangeline and her coach continued to work on her budget and she began to search for a job where she utilized our Employment specialist who updated her resume.

Evangeline continued to work part-time after she graduated but wanted a job in her field.  A law firm in Philadelphia was looking for an assistant to the executive accountant.  Evangeline got on the train and went into the City applied for the job and was hired for it. Evangeline has been employed since May 2017 with the White and Williams Law Firm.

Evangeline’s long term plan is to become a home owner.
